Singers are not born just to sing! They’re born to inspire!
That’s what I realized after meeting Mr. Tuesday, RJ Jimenez! If singers only know how to sing, then probably it’s time to replace them with robots. Personally, singers who are capable of singing are technically a singer but holistically they’re not. It’s not worthy for human beings to just sing and produce sounds. Singing makes us more human when we can inspire and share a story or experience to your listeners. Sorry for being a bit philosophical! Hehe…
Going back to RJ… After my short agony inside the MRT train, my friend and I were able to find the venue of the press conference. The bloggers met him at TomaX Bar in Quezon City during his album launching and press conference.
This man is a true singer and musician. His songs tell different stories and different angles of love. He touches us not because most of his songs are about love but rather his songs are something we can relate. His songs reflect so much of his personality and beliefs. Like one of his favorite songs (actually, I asked him to pick his favoriteJ), “True Love Waits,” he tells us that true love waits until the time of marriage and not outside marriage because real love endures and waits. I was impressed when he explained it, indeed he’s a true UST alumnus! Kudos to his Franciscan professors! J
Very energetic, he came to our table ready to answer our questions. I was amazed how much energy he had that night from 3PM Yehey! Chat event to his 7PM album launching and press conference! Wow!
A bit nervous, indeed starstruck, I refreshed my PDA memory and I tried to do my best to come up with interesting questions. I asked about the guitar he used in the album, he said he bought it from Yamaha while strolling in the mall. His first instrument to play is a piano, which is also my favorite musical instrument. Eventually, he learned how to play the guitar which I have no patience and even time to try. Playing the piano is enough for me…Hehe!
Throughout the bloggers interview with him, I was just laughing and smiling because he’s very cheerful and enthusiastic. Actually, it’s my first time to see and meet an artist like him. Our questions were answered not in a showbiz and fancy manner rather he answered the questions as a person. Going back home while in the MRT train, my friend and I immediately missed RJ because we felt his presence so much and the way he treated us is really worth remembering.
Btw, I got a copy of his new album "RJ JMNZ" and his signature on my album. I really enjoyed the tracks as much as I enjoyed meeting RJ! Sana maging HIT lahat ng mga compositions mo J Wish you luck and success! Congrats RJ, well done!
